Hi, the hotel I booked for a room in the coming month of August quoted us the rate RM180 per room per night and a peak season surcharge (PSS) of RM50 per room per night. The rates were quoted to us in May.
However, since the GST is already zero-rated, the hotel re-quoted us the room rate as RM169.80 per room per night. As for the PSS, it remained the same.
We would like to know which is the correct room rate after zero-rated the GST;
Initial Quote: RM230 per room per night (room rate + PSS)
Is it;
a. RM 216.98 per room per night (room rate+PSS) or,
b. RM 229.80 per room per night (room rate+PSS)

Firstly, do you charge GST on peak season surcharge (PSS)?  If you do then (a) is correct.  If you do not charge GST on surcharge, then (b) is the right one.
